Harbison-Fischer Stuffing Boxes

HF Stuffing Boxes have a long standing reputation for quality, dependability and reliability. Harbison-Fischer manufactures this line of products in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Crowley, Texas. This product meets Harbison-Fischer and ISO 9001 quality standards.

All full size HF Stuffing Boxes are provided with large hammer nuts for easy tightening or loosening. They use standard industry size packing and are available in industry standard thread sizes. Packing rubbers and followers are available in a wide variety of materials for all pumping conditions (General purpose, Teflon filled, Greasy Hycar, High Temperature, CO2/H2S and regular Nylon). Pressure ratings are 2,500 psi except for the HTP stuffing box which is 3,000 psi.

Model L

The HF Model L Stuffing Box is a dual packing stuffing box with a unique method of closing the lower packing to hold back well pressure during replacement of the upper packing. The upper packing is a standard, interchangeable industry design while the lower packing is a special full circle rubber "H" packing that is closed by application of pressure through the use of a standard grease gun. Pressure from the grease gun is applied to the lower "H" packing to seal off the well pressure, then after the upper packing is replaced, the lower "H" packing pressure is released by pushing on the pressure relief valve with a pocketknife or screwdriver. The "H" packing automatically retracts and the well can be restarted.

Model DL

The HF Model DL Stuffing Box is identical to the Model L in operational design but is designed for slim hole completions. It is smaller in diameter to allow its use in dual completions and has a special pumping tee that can be tightened to the tubing without hitting the other dual completion well head. The operation of the lower "H" packing is the same as the Model L.

Pollution Control

The HF Pollution Control Stuffing Box is a dual packing stuffing box that has a fluid port between the two sets of packing. The lower packing provides the operational packing seal for the well. The upper packing holds the pressure and directs possible leaking fluid through the fluid port to an environmental container which can be equipped with a float valve or pressure switch to shut down the pumping unit.

High Temperature/High Pressure

The HF High Temperature/High Pressure (HTP) Stuffing Box is a dual packed stuffing box with special high temperature upper and lower packings that are rated at 450º Fahrenheit and 3,000 psi. Each set of packing has a hammer nut that is used to adjust the packing. The upper packing is the primary seal with the lower packing tightened to seal the pressure when it is necessary to replace the upper packing.

Model S

The HF Model S Stuffing Box is identical to the Model L stuffing box except that it does not have the lower "H" packing seal. It should be specified for low pressure wells that do not flow when the packing is replaced.

The HF Model DS Stuffing Box is an economy version slim hole stuffing box that is identical to the Model DL stuffing box except that it does not have the lower "H" packing seal. It should be used in slim hole applications where flowing pressure is not a consideration.

The HF Economy Stuffing Box is a single pack stuffing box for low pressure wells that do not have a tendency to flow when the backpressure is released.
